Did You Know: May is Cervical Cancer Consciousness Month
May is Cervical Cancer Consciousness Month by virtue of Proclamation No. 368 signed on April 30, 2003, by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
The proclamation highlights that cervical cancer is a preventable illness and can be detected early through regular medical examination and yet, the majority of cases in the Philippines are seen by doctors only in the late stages of the illness.
The awareness campaign is under the auspices of the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (Foundation), Inc.
