LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines  — Bicol’s 45th coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient earlier reported to be a 32-year-old woman from Legazpi City, is the first physician in the region to have contracted the coronavirus disease, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed on Sunday.

According to the DOH, the patient works at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH), also in Legazpi City.

In an earlier report, the physician was a close contact of another COVID-19 patient who is also a healthcare worker.

Her onset of illness was on Tuesday (April 28).
