TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines -A 60-year-old farmer from Baggao town in Cagayan province was discharged from the Cagayan Valley Medical Center here on Sunday after recovering from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Dr. Glenn Matthew Baggao, CVMC hospital chief, said PH 7918 from Barangay Remus already tested negative for the coronavirus on his second swab test.

The farmer had no travel history but has a daughter who returned home from Taiwan in February.

Dr. Carlos Cortina, Cagayan provincial health officer, said they had placed on quarantine people who came in contact with the farmer.

The Emergency Operations Center of the Cagayan Valley Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 has been conducting mass testing for health workers and their relatives, Cagayan Gov. Manuel Mamba said.

The mass testing through rapid anti-body tests would ensure that the susceptible health worker-patients and overseas Filipino workers would be checked up to avoid the spread of the virus, he added.

The remaining COVID-19 cases in the Cagayan Valley include a man in Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya who was confined at the Region 2 Trauma and Medical Center, and two health workers in Cagayan who were confined at the CVMC.
