RITM team checks proposed site of coronavirus testing lab in Oriental Mindoro
CITY OF CALAPAN—A team from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) on Wednesday (April 29) inspected the site of a proposed coronavirus testing facility here, according to officials.
Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito Dolor on Thursday (April 30) said the proposed testing facility in the Oriental Mindoro provincial hospital will have two machines for detecting coronavirus.
The RITM team gave a list of equipment needed, the layout for the facility and training programs needed for doctors, medical technologists and other health professionals on the use of the machines.
The equipment could be acquired in one or two weeks.
Once requirements were met, the RITM team would return to conduct rehearsal tests and certify the facility as a testing center.
According to the Mimaropa COVID-19 tracker, the region has 22 COVID-19 cases.

The region has 132 suspected or probable cases with Palawan having the most, 56. Oriental Mindoro has 49. Occidental Mindoro has 20. Romblon has five. Marinduque has two.
