CITY OF MALOLOS –– Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando will open the Bulacan COVID Center on Friday (May 1), where the province would isolate and care for 100 suspected and probable coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.
The Center will be hosted at the newly constructed extension building of the Bulacan Medical Center (BMC), which has been equipped with dialysis and intensive care unit facilities, the governor said during a Monday (April 27) briefing.
Fernando said he limited the number of patients to a hundred, instead of the initial 300, so they would receive quality health services.
The Bulacan State University (BulSU) building adjacent to the COVID Center will serve as temporary housing for frontliners tasked to operate the quarantine facility.
Fernando rushed the completion of the BMC extension building after his March 11 proposal to sequester the Bulacan Sports Complex in Sta. Isabel village as a centralized Bulacan quarantine facility was opposed by Malolos officials.
He said the MAB Building in Tikay village has been offered by broadcast network UNTV as another isolation zone that could house 56 probable and suspected cases.
The ground floor of the Local Governance Center in the provincial capitol compound has been occupied by 15 overseas Filipino workers, while the second floor has been designated for probable infected patients.
The Rovidocs, robot assistants that monitor a patient’s health and deliver medicines, will be stationed in the COVID Center, Fernando said.
The robots were developed by the BulSU information technology department.
