DOH now has 1,101 COVID-19 referral hospitals – Duterte report

MANILA, Philippines — Every region in the country now has at least one COVID-19 referral hospital, President Rodrigo Duterte told Congress in his fifth weekly report on Monday.

According to the report, the Department of Health (DOH) has designated 1,101 COVID-referral hospitals in the Philippines as of April 23, 2020.

The total number of beds for COVID-19 patients in these referral hospitals is 7,732.

The total number of ventilators for both the private and public hospitals is 1,381.

The facilities of two additional state universities and colleges (SUCs) have been used as quarantine areas or crisis intervention units (CUIs).

“The number of SUC facilities used as quarantine facilities/CIUs is now at 16, while 18 local universities and colleges were also converted as quarantine areas/isolation centers for suspected cases,” the report read.

As of Monday afternoon, the Department of Health has confirmed 7,777 COVID-19 patients in the country, of whom 932 have recovered and 511 have died.
