MANILA, Philippines — Some 14,000 students of the University of Caloocan City (UCC) will each receive within the week P1,000 in cash assistance from the city government, according to Mayor Oscar Malapitan.

“We understand that the majority of UCC students are also working students, and that they were among the working class that had their work temporarily discontinued due to the pandemic,” he said in a statement over the weekend.

In a letter to the city council, Malapitan said the cash assistance would be given to all enrolled UCC students for the second semester of academic year 2019-2020.
