DOH: 1,245 healthcare workers test positive for coronavirus; 27 die
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,245 health care professionals have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2 which causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Of the number, 27 have succumbed to the disease — 21 of which are doctors, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire announced on Monday.
She added that 471 are nurses, 464 are doctors, 69 are nursing assistants, 41 are medical technologists, 25 are radio technologists, and 10 are midwives.
The 1,245 healthcare workers are among the 7,777 individuals in the country that was so far afflicted with COVID-19. The country’s death toll is already at 551, while 932 patients were able to recover.
