CITY OF CALAPAN—The province of Oriental Mindoro now has seven COVID-19 cases, according to Gov. Humerlito Dolor on Friday (April 24).

The latest patient is 21-years-old, male from the town of Mansalay. He didn’t have symptoms while on home quarantine since April 12.

The seventh patient is cousin of another patient, who had already recovered. The two lived in the same place.

Respiratory samples were taken from the seventh patient for a second test. His parents would be tested, too. The entire family is now in an undisclosed isolation area.

Contact tracing has been expanded to locate other people who had come into contact with the seventh patient or his family.

Since two cases were found in one village and were connected to each other, the village would be on a total lockdown starting 8 p.m. on Friday, said the governor.

The lockdown would last until test results are available for the seventh patient and his family.

Residents of Mansalay were being encouraged to pass on information to the town’s health office about people who had come into contact with the seventh patient and his cousin who had recovered already.
