3 suspected drug peddlers, gun-for-hires killed in Taguig shootout

MANILA, Philippines — Three suspected drug peddlers and members of a gun-for-hire group, were killed in a shootout with the police in Taguig City on Wednesday afternoon.

A report from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) identified the suspected members of a gun-for-hire group as Adam Kamid Chiongbian and Ronaldo Jarumay. The third suspect, Edward Galleposo, was reportedly involved in drug-peddling activities.

Police said Chiongbian was also previously arrested for illegal drugs.

Prior to the shootout, an informant reported to police the presence of a suspected armed group inside a house in Barangay Ibayo Tipas.

Police said the suspects opened fire as members of the Taguig City police were entering the suspects’ house. The suspects were killed during the shootout, police said.

Retrieved from the crime scene were a caliber .45 pistol, a caliber .38 revolver, a rifle grenade, and an MK2 fragmentation grenade.

“The presence of this notorious gang is a threat to the safety and security of the community, especially in these trying times. I am proud of the extraordinary effort of my men in dealing with the health crisis and our anti-criminality and illegal drugs effort simultaneously with the same vigor as if it was the first day,” NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas said in a statement.
