MANILA, Philippines — The Las Piñas City government said Tuesday that there are now 117 residents who contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to the local government’s latest data, of the total number of cases, 14 managed to recover while eight succumbed to the disease.
Meanwhile, the city also has five probable COVID-19 cases, as well as 47 suspected cases.
As of Tuesday, the Department of Health has recorded 6,599 COVID-19 cases in the whole country, with 654 recoveries and 437 deaths.
The COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that first emerged in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province in China in late 2019.
The disease was caused by a novel coronavirus that was later named SARS-CoV-2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses.
