8 towns, or 1/3, of Bulacan remain free of COVID-19

CITY OF MALOLOS–Eight towns, or a third of Bulacan province, remain free of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a month after Luzon was locked down to prevent its spread.

The latest report from the Bulacan Provincial Health Office (PHO) said the towns of Angat, San Rafael, Norzagaray and Donya Remedios Trinidad (DRT) in the third district, Plaridel and Balagtas in the second district, and Paombong and Hagonoy in the first district have no traces of infection.

The PHO said these towns had suspected and probable COVID-19 cases but all were eventually cleared.

The PHO took note of the small number of residents working in Metro Manila who have been returning to Bulacan during the lockdown. Manila is the epicenter of the country’s COVID-19 crisis.

Angat Mayor Leonardo De Leon instructed village officials to make sure people in the town constantly wear masks, practice social distancing, and avoid interacting with people who came from Manila or abroad.

The Bulacan cities of San Jose del Monte, Malolos and Meycauayan and Baliuag town have the most COVID-19 cases, which rose to 69 as of Tuesday (Apr. 14).
