2 escapees nabbed in Cebu City

CEBU CITY –– Two of the seven detainees, who escaped from the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) past 11 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, were arrested by the police.

Col. Roderick Mariano, CPPO director, said the seven escapees were walking a few meters from the CPPO in Barangay Sudlon, Cebu City when the police apprehended two of them.

The remaining five, however, managed to run away.

Mariano said a manhunt operation was being conducted to arrest the five escapees.

All seven escapees were facing illegal drug charges after they were earlier arrested in separate operations in Talisay City and Dumanjug town.

While detained, the suspects scraped off the concrete walls where the metal rods of the prison were attached.

The three policemen on duty claimed they didn’t notice what the detainees were doing.

Mariano said the three policemen would be investigated.
