LUCENA CITY –– The record of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Quezon province continued to rise with the addition of four new patients on Tuesday, bringing the total number of validated virus carriers to 36.
As of noon Tuesday, the bulletin of the Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO), citing data from the Integrated Provincial Health Office, recorded three new COVID-19 cases in Lucena City and one from Tayabas City.
On Monday, the total recorded COVID-19 cases were only 32, at least 16 of them are health workers, four are doctors from Lucena City.
The local COVID-19 fatalities remained at five, all elderly people aged 55 to 79, from the towns of Unisan, Candelaria, Calauag, Infanta, and Tiaong.
At least three patients from Lucena City, Tayabas City, and Sariaya town, tested negative and were discharged from the hospitals.
With the recovery of the three patients and the death of five others, the number of active COVID-19 carriers in the province is down to 28.
Lucena has 13, Tayabas has five, the towns of Pagbilao, Unisan, and Candelaria have two each, and one case each from the municipalities of Pitogo, Sariaya, Sampaloc, and Real.
