MANILA, Philippines — The Makati City government has started building four additional emergency quarantine facilities (EQFs) to augment the capacity of hospitals caring for confirmed and probable new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients.

Mayor Abby Binay said on Monday that three temporary structures would be built at Pembo Elementary School and one at the parking area of Ospital ng Makati.

Each EQF can house 15 beds and two toilets, along with sanitation and disinfection areas, a testing box and a nurses’ lounge.

Patients and health-care workers will have different entrances with doctors having their own external testing box to check patients without having to go inside the facility.
