COVID-19 recovery: Oriental Mindoro reports 31-yr-old woman tests negative

CITY OF CALAPAN—A 31-year-old woman who had been on monitoring for COVID-19 in Oriental Mindoro turned out negative for the disease, according to officials.

The officials said COVID-19 patients in the province were in stable condition and had been tested anew to determine if they still have the virus that causes the disease.

Gov. Humerito Dolor said one of the patients has no more symptoms and just awaiting results of third and second tests from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

An infant patient is in stable condition and being given oral antibiotics while on hospital quarantine. Test results for the baby are still being awaited. It’s not clear, though, what drove the baby’s doctors to administer antibiotics despite the World Health Organization and US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health experts saying antibiotics doesn’t work for COVID-19.

Another baby infected with COVID-19, according to officials in the province, still has fever but is no longer suffering from shortness of breath.

The province had recorded six positive COVID-19 cases. the first patient was a year-old girl, who has gone on home quarantine and recovered.

Another patient, an 87-year-old man, died without knowing the results of his tests.
