Woman dies in Cubao fire

MANILA, Philippines—A woman died in a fire that hit a store in Cubao, Quezon City early Monday, authorities said.

Fire Officer 1 Rean Recato, radio operator of the Agham road fire sub-station, identified the fatality as Gina Depidep, 24, a native of Mountain Province.

Depidep was believed to be a stay-in vendor of the store at a commercial building along Aurora Blvd. corner EDSA.

Recato said the fire, which broke out at around 3:03 a.m., reached second alarm at 3:05 a.m. before it was put out at 3:54 a.m.

Fire officers were still determining the cause of the fire and cost of damage, he added.
