A 42-year-old woman was arrested for placing Easter eggs stuffed with pornographic images in mailboxes around a neighborhood in Florida, USA.
Abril Cestoni admitted placing the items in mailboxes to “educate” people. Cestoni was charged with 11 counts of distributing obscene material and driving with a suspended license, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said on its Facebook page last Thursday, April 9.
The office received multiple calls from residents in the evening of Wednesday, April 8, reporting a woman placing plastic eggs in their mailboxes. After conducting a search around the area, the previously identified vehicle of the suspect, a 2004 silver Honda Civic, was stopped by the authorities.
A bag full of pornographic materials was found inside the vehicle. She also told the authorities that she had distributed over 400 pamphlets throughout Flagler County.
The FCSO had gotten similar complaints since Sunday, April 5. According to the report, the residents found eggs containing sexually obscene images, non-threatening references to local churches and county buildings, as well as other miscellaneous items.
The authorities also checked the woman for COVID-19 symptoms.
“Thankfully she did not appear to be sick with COVID-19 symptoms, but she certainly needs some help,” Sheriff Rick Staly was quoted as saying. “This again proves that ‘see something, say something’ works and we thank the community for being part of our guardianship policing philosophy.”
The woman also violated Florida’s Executive Order 20-91 for “conducting travel not related to essential activity” amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Cestoni was booked into the Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is held on a $7,000 bond. /ra
