Legazpi City allows eateries to operate

LEGAZPI CITY –– The city task force against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) here has allowed the operation of small canteens or eateries (“carinderia”) amid the enhanced community quarantine implementation.

Mayor Noel Rosal, in a public advisory, said the measure allows people “to have more access to food supply” provided that the food establishment would still follow social distancing, curfew rules, and other safety precautions to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Those who have existing business and sanitary permits would be required to set up a plastic separator to serve as a protective cover between the food server and the customer.

Food would only be sold for take-out, while the food servers are also required to wear the head cover, face mask, gloves, and other safety gear.

Clearance would be issued before the establishment could start its operation, Rosal said in the advisory.

Earlier, Rosal also allowed the operation of fast-food chains and restaurants for take-out and drive-thru orders.
