DSWD issues SAP checks to LGUs that meet requirements for cash aid–IATF

MANILA, Philippines— The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has issued checks to Metro Manila local government units (LGUs) that have completed the requirements for the social amelioration program (SAP).

Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Wednesday the following LGUs have already been given their checks for the month of April:

Manila –  P1.48 billion

Parañaque – P621.39 million

Caloocan – P1.72 billion

Marikina – P449.88 million

Pasig – P750.93 million

Quezon City – P3.02 billion

Mandaluyong – P368.37 million
Muntinlupa – P430.68 million

Taguig – P739.97 million

LGUs are tasked to distribute and collect social amelioration cards (SACs) that identify holders as qualified recipients of the cash aid.

“Per the DSWD, all Metro Manila LGUs have committed to submit the list of families not included in the initial list of beneficiaries at the soonest possible time,” Nograles said in a virtual briefing.

The cities of Parañaque and Manila already began distribution of the cash aid to their target beneficiaries, Nograles said.

He said the DSWD’s field office in Metro Manila has already established 17 monitoring teams “to supervise the full implementation of the first tranche of the SAP.”

“It has requested  LandBank to open on Saturdays to facilitate SAP implementation for the 17 NCR LGUs even on weekends,” Nograles added.

The government has set aside P200 billion worth of cash aid to be distributed to about 18 million low-income families under the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act recently signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Those qualified to receive cash aid under the SAP will get between P5,000 to P8,000. These amounts will be based on the prevailing wage rates in the regions where the beneficiaries live.
