THE LOCAL powerhouse squads registered easy wins to kick off their new year campaign in the Seaoil National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Elite League Cebu leg over at the City Sports Club Cebu basketball court last weekend.
The reigning champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles made short work of the PAREF-Springdale, 95-44, to remain unbeaten in the tournament. Jr. NBA national team member Patrick Go had 24 points to lead the barrage even as RP Under-16 team member Henry Asilum added 19 while Dave Wilson Yu contributed 18 markers.
The rivals of SHS-AdC also got in on the winning act as the Cebu Eastern College Dragons downed the Don Bosco Greywolves, 65-51. Lithe big man Lyle Sumayang tallied 19 for CEC while Marvin Bauya and Alfred Sedillo each had 11.
The reigning Cesafi juniors champions University of the Visayas also got two wins over the weekend as they first disposed of the Philippine Christian Gospel School, 78-25, before clobbering the University of San Carlos North, 73-66./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
