LUCENA CITY – Two more confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Quezon on Sunday, bringing the total virus carriers in the province to 13, authorities disclosed.
In a 6 p.m. bulletin, the Quezon Public Information Office (QPIO), revealed that the two latest cases were traced to Lucena City and Tayabas City. No further details were provided on the two new virus carriers.
On Saturday, health authorities reported a 55-year-old male from Candelaria town, officially tagged as “Confirmed Case #8”, had died.
With the latest report, there were only 12 remaining confirmed virus carriers in the province: Lucena – 6, Tayabas – 2, Sariaya – 2 and one each in the towns of Sampaloc and Unisan.
The QPIO also reported that out of the 288 validated suspected carriers of COVID-19 classified “patient under investigation” (PUI), only 127 remain under medical care and home quarantine as of Sunday.
PUIs refer to those who recently traveled to foreign countries or local areas in the Philippines with confirmed COVID-19 cases and who have consulted doctors due to cough, cold, or fever on returning home to their provinces.
The QPIO also recorded that six PUIs had died since the COVID-19 outbreak.
As of this writing, the results of the laboratory tests on the two presumptive COVID-19 fatalities have not been released.
Earlier, two of the casualties tested negative for the virus.
