Truck with P2M cargo stolen from firm’s parking lot
A delivery truck carrying P2 million worth of lighting fixtures has been reported stolen from the company’s parking lot in Quezon City.
The theft of the truck owned by Akira Corp. was discovered by the firm’s workers around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Before it was stolen, the truck (plate number XKG-792) had been left along with 14 others in the company’s parking area at the corner of Argueles and Bayani streets in Galas, Quezon City.

Police District’s anticar theft unit, said the company’s operations manager, Harry Pun, told them that the truck contained P2 million worth of lighting fixtures.
The firm was scheduled to deliver the cargo to a department store in Pasig City on Sunday.
A check of the footage taken by the firm’s circuit television camera showed the truck being maneuvered out of the parking lot.
However, it did not show who or how many people were involved in the theft, which the police suspect could be an inside job.
Diaz said the operations manager told him that the truck’s ignition key was broken. As a result, any key could be used to start the engine. In addition, there was no way to lock the truck because the door lock was also broken.
Police speculated that the theft may have occurred after the guards working the day shift left and before the guards on the night shift took over.
