CALASIAO, PANGASINAN –– A 7-year-old girl from San Fabian town has died due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), local officials said on Wednesday.
The girl from Barangay Inmalog Sur was also the first confirmed case of the disease in that town, according to San Fabian Mayor Constante Agbayani.
Citing reports from the provincial health office, Agbayani said the young patient was confined at the La Union Medical Center in Agoo, La Union on March 26, and died that day.
It was not immediately known how the girl contracted the virus.
The result of the test done by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine was released only on Tuesday.
Agbayani said Barangay Inmalog Sur had been placed under extreme community quarantine due to the girl’s case.
