BALANGA CITY, BATAAN –– A 13-year-old boy from a remote village in Balanga was rushed to a hospital on March 25 for a ruptured appendix, where he was tested and confirmed to have been infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The boy and a 44-year-old woman, also from Balanga, raised the number of patients who contracted the killer virus to 14 as of Tuesday (March 31), the Department of Health said.

The woman had close contact with Rudy de Mesa, the city administrator who died last weekend for COVID-19.

Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia said Balanga City employees and barangay chairmen, who interacted with De Mesa, have undertaken self-quarantine.

The distribution of food packs in Balanga was disrupted for a day to give way to the disinfection of the city hall.
