Lionair’s flight data recorder found
MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has recovered the flight data recorder (FDR) of the medical evacuation plane RP-C5880 that crashed on Sunday night at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The FDR was retrieved on Monday afternoon, CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said on Tuesday.
The FDR is a device that records specific aircraft performance parameters. Its purpose is to collect and record data from a variety of aircraft sensors onto a medium designed to survive an accident.
The aircraft’s cockpit voice recorder was earlier recovered from the crash site.
