3 positive COVID-19 patients to be quarantined in Bicol hospital

LEGAZPI CITY –– The three persons who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and undergoing self-quarantine, would be admitted to a quarantine facility for monitoring in Albay province.

Governor Al Francis Bichara, chair of the Albay Interagency Task Force (IATF), said bringing these COVID-19 positive persons at the quarantine facility of the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRRTH), would ensure that they are closely monitored and given the necessary medical treatment.

The BRTTH quarantine facility has a six-bed capacity isolation room to cater to people with mild and severe COVID-19 infections.

Bichara has directed Dr. Antonio Ludovice, chief of Albay Health office, to coordinate with the three persons.

However, Ludovice said in a separate interview that the three, who are about to finish their 14-day quarantine, refused to be admitted, saying they felt more comfortable in their homes.

They were already on quarantine before the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine released their laboratory test results last week.

Ludovice said they would enforce what is in the guideline for admitting patients. But since the three were already almost nearing the end of their quarantine period, they would just wait for the second test.

If the test still comes out positive, they would be placed under hospital isolation.

Albay has only three confirmed COVID-19 cases, three patients under investigation, and 20,013 persons under monitoring.
