Quezon City anti-drug operatives seize over P14M worth of shabu, bust suspect

MANILA, Philippines — Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) have confiscated more than P14 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) during a buy-bust operation inside an apartelle in Novaliches.

QCPD chief Col. Ronnie Montejo said Tuesday that lawmen also arrested Monday night the suspect identified as Regine Legaspi, 31, a resident of Navotas City.

According to the police report, an undercover police officer was able to close a deal with the suspect for P130,000 worth of shabu during the operation carried out together with members of the Novaliches Police Station-Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The transaction took place at 10:56 p.m. on March 30 in an apartelle in Barangay Bagbag along Quirino Highway in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Montejo said the operation against Legaspi was hatched after authorities were able to extract information from previously arrested drug suspects, who yielded over P2 million worth of shabu in Navotas City.

Montejo also said operatives seized from Legaspi more than two kilograms of meth worth P14,280,000, as well as the P130,000-worth boodle money, P1,000-worth marked money, cellphone, and drug paraphernalia.

Legaspi is now detained in the Novaliches Police Station as charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being readied for filing against the suspect.
