Valenzuela City records 2 new COVID-19 cases, total now at 9

MANILA, Philippines — The Valenzuela City government reported Monday two new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19),  bringing the city’s total infection to 9.

The city’s 8th COVID-19 case is a 29-year-old female while the other is a 69-year-old female.

“Both patients are currently confined in a hospital,” the city government said.

The Valenzuela City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) is closely monitoring the additional cases. Contact tracing is also underway.

Valenzuela City residents who are experiencing symptoms have a travel history and/or exposure to a possible COVID-19 patient are advised to call the city’s #COVID19 HOTLINE at 8352-5000.

To date, there are 1,418 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, 71 of whom have died while 42 recovered.

The respiratory disease, which was considered by the World Health Organization as a pandemic, has infected over 700,000 worldwide, nearly 34,000 of whom have died.
