WATCH: 1st COVID-19 patient to recover at Laguna hospital receives warm applause
MANILA, Philippines — Sounds of warm applause from medical staffers greeted the first patient of a hospital in Laguna to recover from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2.
In a 45-second clip shared by Unihealth Southwoods Hospital and Medical Center on Facebook, an elderly woman can be seen receiving heartwarming applause as she was being wheeled along a line of healthcare personnel.
“Heartwarming applause for our 1st cured and recovered (COVID-19) patient. The patient was discharged after two negative tests,” the video’s caption read.
“Kudos to our frontline workers and medical professionals!” it added.
To date, the Philippines has so far recorded 1,418 COVID-19 cases.
Of the number, 71 have died while 42 patients have recovered.
