MANILA, Philippines — There are now seven cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Valenzuela City, the local government announced Sunday.
In its latest tally posted on Facebook, the sixth patient is an 88-year-old female, and is the mother of patient number 2.
“She is experiencing mild symptoms and is now under strict home quarantine,” the Valenzuela City LGU said.
Patient no. 7, meanwhile, is a 36-year-old male, and the husband of patient no. 1 who had history of travel outside the Philippines.
The couple is asymptomatic and under “strict home quarantine,” the LGU added.
It was previously reported that the COVID-19 cases in the city reached five.
“The Valenzuela City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) did nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs to the identified close contacts. Our CESU is closely monitoring all the cases and conducting contact tracing,” the LGU assured.
As of Sunday, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 1,075, with 68 deaths and 35 recoveries.
