439 Central Luzon workers displaced by Luzon lockdown get P5k aid

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –– At least 439 workers in the Central Luzon region who were displaced by the Luzon-wide lockdown due to the coronavirus disease (COVD-19) began receiving P5,000 each from the national government on Friday, according to a labor official.

The financial aid was part of the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP). This was ordered by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III through Department Order No. 209.

Private establishments that implemented flexible work arrangements or temporary closure may avail of CAMP aid, said Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita, director of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the region.

She said the total aid to the 439 workers from 71 micro, small, and medium enterprises, amounting to P2.195 million, was transferred to the employees’ payroll account, or through money remittance centers.

Campita said the DOLE was processing the applications for the aid of 86,000 workers.
