Valenzuela emulates Pasig; launches own ‘market on wheels’

MANILA, Philippines — For Valenzuela City, they believe in the saying that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as it unveiled its own version of “market on wheels” on Saturday.

Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian even thanked Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto for the idea.

“@VicoSotto we’re rolling it out na. Thanks for your idea!!!” Gatchalian said on Twitter as he unveiled the city’s latest project.

The mayor, however, added that Valenzuela’s own “market on wheels” was tweaked, so it could traverse through the city’s terrain of small roads.

“But the over all concept is the same…thanks for your concept!!!” Gatchalian added.

The “market on wheels” will be fully operational on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Pasig City earlier rolled out its “mobile palengke” as a way to minimize crowding in public markets.

And Sotto at all wasn’t bothered of Valenzuela City’s latest project, as he quickly gave his seal of approval.

“Solid ‘to! (This is awesome) I will show the team who designed ours.. it will be a big morale booster for them!!,” Sotto replied to Gatchalian’s tweet.

“We continue to copy a number of your best practices as well,” he added. Pati yung sa distribusyon ng goods, natututo kami sa inyo. (Even in the distribution of goods, we copied it from you.) #KopyahanNaTo!”
