Zambales’ second COVID-19 case is 70-year-old balikbayan from US

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—The province recorded its second confirmed case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), local officials said on Friday.

The latest case is a 70-year-old Filipino-American woman who arrived in the province from the United States on March 14, said Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health officer.

According to Bueno, the woman was exposed to another COVID-19 patient in the US.

While in her hometown of Cabangan, the woman experienced cough, colds and body malaise, Bueno said in a statement.

The woman went to the Allied Care Experts Medical Center-Baypointe inside the Subic Bay Freeport on March 21 and was immediately admitted and listed as a patient under investigation.

The result of tests done on her was released on Friday, Bueno said, adding that she would undergo a repeat test on April 5.

An extensive contact tracing was already carried out, Bueno said.

The province’s first COVID-19 case is a 73-year-old retired US Navy from this town.
