Oriental Mindoro governor orders strict rules following first case of COVID-19

CITY OF CALAPAN — Following confirmation on the first case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the province, Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito Dolor ordered on Friday more precautionary measures to be implemented to stop the spread of the virus.

After talking with mayors and police chiefs, Dolor said on a Facebook post that authorities will no longer allow the entry of anyone outside the province, even those stuck outside the borders due to the guidelines set by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine. An exemption, however, is granted to members of the inter-agency task force and the President.

He said mayors are talking about clustering and putting a specific day for market schedule to avoid overfilled markets that might violate physical distancing.

All those who violate strict home quarantine and liquor ban will be caught and detained by the police.

“I am repairing (the) Provincial Detention Center (Provincial Jail in Bansud) to bring stubborn violators. There (they) can do physical distancing…because its facility is spacious,” he said.
