Facility reserved as quarantine area for residents returning to Tuguegarao

TUGUEGARAO CITY –– The city government has readied a 31-bed facility to serve as a quarantine area for residents stranded outside Tuguegarao, when the Luzon quarantine took effect, and who are about to return home.

In a March 26 briefing, Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the building would take in residents trapped in Los Baños town in Laguna. A government vehicle was deployed to fetch them on Thursday.

The stranded city villagers are considered persons under monitoring (PUMs).

Anticipating that the rooms will soon be inadequate, city officials have been scouting for other buildings that could host quarantine operations.

Dr. James Guzman, Tuguegarao health officer, said only six people are being observed after they were declared patients under investigation. He said there are 1,988 PUMs in the city.
