MANILA, Philippines — Amid their busy schedule serving as frontliners in the coronavirus disease crisis, police officers took time to cook hot meals and feed suspects who are detained at a Manila police station.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas said officers of the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 7 in Jose Abad Santos, Tondo, voluntarily cooked food for detainees whose relatives are not able to visit because of the ongoing Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
“During this time of crisis wherein relatives and friends could not possibly visit their detained loved ones, police officers’ uplift their morale through food provision,” Sinas said in a statement on Thursday.
Law enforcers are seen cooking rice and meals for those detained at the Jose Abad Santos police station. The MPD officers are also seen following health protocols such as the wearing of face masks and oberving social distancing.

Sinas also reminded the public to stay in their homes and follow guidelines from the government to prevent further increase of coronavirus disease cases in the country.
“We guarantee that the Metropolitan police will serve the public to whatever extent. We ask the public to continue cooperating with the government to finally put an end to the proliferation and increasing number of victims being infected by COVID-19,” he said.
