MANILA, Philippines — Valenzuela City on Thursday recorded a new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the city to three.

Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian said on Twitter that the third patient is a 34-year-old male with no known travel history. Gatchalian said the patient is now admitted to a hospital after being diagnosed with severe pneumonia.
“He is currently hooked up to oxygen for breathing support,” the mayor said.
The Valenzuela City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit is monitoring the patient’s family and is now conducting contact tracing to identify the patient’s close contacts.
Valenzuela City which is located in the northern part of Metro Manila reported that its first COVID-19 case on March 20 is that of a 34-year-old woman with no travel history.
