An ice cream vendor stabbed dead a man whom he confronted for damaging the cover of the ice cream’s container.
Manuel Olasiman, 21, was arrested by police after the attack in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Reynaldo Colina, 49, died from a single stab wound in the chest.
Past 7 p.m. last Saturday, Olasiman sold sorbetes (commonly known as “dirty ice cream” sold along the road in a steel container) on H. Cortes Street.
While Olasiman was busy attending to customers, Colina sat on the container’s cover.
Olasiman later discovered that the cover was deformed after Olasiman sat on it.
Because the cover was damaged, the ice cream container could not be covered anymore, upsetting the vendor.
Olasiman confronted Colina which resulted into a heated argument.
Olasiman left but returned later and stabbed Colina with a 12-inch knife.
Olasiman fled after the attack, while Colina was rushed to the Mandaue City Hospital where attending physicians declared him dead.
Members of the Subangdaku police conducted a follow-up operation and arrested Olasiman in his home.
Olasiman was detained at the Subangdaku police precinct while waiting for homicide charges to be filed against him, said police.
