Sorsogon gives shelter to 18 people headed to Visayas but trapped by COVID-19 restrictions

LEGAZPI CITY—At least 18 people from the Visayas, stranded because of COVID-19 travel bans, had been given shelter in Sorsogon province.

Col. Roque Bausa, Sorsogon police chief, said 10 persons who travelled from Egypt and Metro Manila were quarantined at a building in Camp Escudero in Sorsogon City.

They arrived in Sorsogon on March 18 and 19, but were unable to travel due to a lockdown that shut down passenger operations at Matnog port.

Eight Visayas-bound passengers were also quarantined at the headquarters of the 903rd Brigade of Philippine Army in Castilla town.

Quarantined passengers were being monitored by village health teams.
