Pilapil, solon’s niece in lot dispute

After surviving a carjacking incident last April, Cebuana actress and former beauty queen Pilar Pilapil is faced with another personal trial, this time on the court.

Pilapil filed a civil suit against the niece of Rep. Benhur Salimbangon of Cebu’s 4th district over a land dispute before the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City.

The actress is demanding P1 million in moral damages, P100,000 in attorney’s fees and P75,000 in litigation expenses from Ulpa Novabos Salimbangon and a certain Uldarica Novabos.

The two accused Pilapil of trespassing, saying the lot she owned in Malapascua Island, Daanbantayan town in Cebu encroached on their property.

Pilapil built a residential lot, restaurant and other structures on the lot she acquired from Lily Monteclar in 2002.

Monteclar is Uldarica’s sister. Pilapil said the land acquired by Salimbangon was a subdivided lot where monuments indicating its boundaries were already in place.

Years after the buildings were constructed, Pilapil said the defendants sought the demolition of a portion of her house and other structures that encroached on their lot.

Pilapil offered to buy a portion of the defendants’ lot.

But on March 11 this year, Ulpa together with policemen, a barangay councilor, ronda tanods and several men went to her home to demolish the structures.

Pilapil said Ulpa accused her of being a “trespasser.”

She said Ulpa fenced the boundary line of the encroached portion of the lot.

Pilapil said she wants the court’s intervention to restrain the defendants from demolishing the structures. Reporter Ador Vincent Mayol
