MANILA, Philippines — Three inmates died in a stabbing incident inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City on Tuesday afternoon, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said Wednesday.
In a report, Gabriel Chaclag, chief of BuCor public information office, said the inmate identified as Pedro Pagador suddenly stabbed fellow inmates Ryan Aringgo and Amber Caja using an improvised knife inside the national penitentiary’s Maximum Security Compound at 3:30 p.m.
This prompted other persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) to subdue Pagador, who sustained injuries during the scuffle.
Pagador and his two victims were rushed to the NBP Hospital where they later died at 3:45 a.m. of Wednesday.
Chaclag said the inmates claimed that Pagador became unruly due to his concern of his good conduct time allowance, which is a reward time to reduce an inmate’s prison term.
Investigators have yet to identify Pagador’s motive behind the killing of his fellow inmates.
