Woman arrested for refusing to keep her children at home during COVID-19 quarantine

TACLOBAN CITY—Police on Tuesday (March 24) arrested a woman in an Eastern Samar town who let her children play outside despite a community quarantine order that was supposed to keep people at home.

Amarissa Jayme, 28, of Dolores town, defied repeated requests by village chief Rosa Dalina for her to keep her children inside the house, according to reports.

Instead of heeding the village chief’s request, Jayme yelled at Dalina and insisted in letting her children play outside and roam the streets.

Dalina sought police help which led to Jayme’s arrest. Jayme is now facing charges of resisting and disobeying persons in authority and is now detained at the municipal police jail.
