Quezon City records 13 new COVID-19 cases; total now at 62 cases, 6 deaths
MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City has recorded three more individuals who succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as well as 13 additional cases of infection.
This brings the total number of deaths in the city to six and confirmed cases to 62 as of 7 p.m. Monday. Another patient recovered from the disease, taking the number of recoveries in the city to six, according to data released by the Quezon City Government to the media on Tuesday morning.
Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ) is being implemented over the following barangays: Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, San Isidro Labrador, Tatalon, Damayang Lagi, Batasan Hills, Masagana, Bagong Silangan, Pasong Tamo, and Central.
EECQ is being implemented in areas identified as “hot zones” or where at least three cases of infection were confirmed.
The Quezon City government said Barangay Central does not have COVID-19 patients but is also placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine due to the presence of hospitals in the village.
Barangay Old Balara, meanwhile, is not included in the extreme enhanced community quarantine since it only has one remaining active case. Of those who tested positive in the village, one died and one recovered.
Barangay Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, which has three COVID-19 positive patients, is also not included in the extreme enhanced community quarantine because all three patients belong to only one household.

The local government unit (LGU) said the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office together with Quezon City Fire Department continuously disinfect streets and highways. Barangays Maharlika, Roxas, Pasong Putik, Pinagkaisahan, and Batasan Hills have been disinfected and decontaminated as of Monday, according to the LGU.
Around 287,000 food packs were distributed to residents in the city. Four buses were also allotted to ferry frontliners to and from work from 5:30 and 7:30 a.m. and at 5:30 p.m.
The local government said it also tapped a dormitory and five hotels as additional accommodations for health workers.
