4.3 quake hits off Pangasinan town

MANILA, Philippines–A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck off Agno town in Pangasinan before dawn Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.

The quake, which hit at 4:23 a.m., centered 101 kilometers southwest of Agno at a depth of 26 kilometers. It was followed by five light tremors that occurred in the vicinity.

About 30 minutes later, a magnitude 4 earthquake occurred 109 kilometers southwest of Agno.

The Philippines sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
