Police arrest inventor, son selling antivirus medicine

Policemen arrested on Sunday a local inventor and his son for the alleged online sale of medicine that would purportedly prevent COVID-19 infection. Ismael Aviso as well as his son and namesake were arrested in an entrapment operation in Navotas City after receiving P7,500 in marked money. PNP-ACG chief Brig. Gen. Dennis Agustin said Aviso was allegedly offering online medicinal products “that purportedly can counter COVID-19.” “Thorough investigation revealed that the so-called ‘antiCovid-19 medicine’ were improvised by the older Aviso who is known for inventing motionless electric generator in 2011. In August and September 2019, the Food and Drug Administration issued two public health warnings against Aviso’s products being falsely advertised as cure to viral diseases such as dengue,” Agustin said. —Jeanette I.
