LGUs told to set up satellite markets in clustered villages in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines — Albay Gov. Al Francis Bichara has ordered all local government units (LGUs) to set up satellite markets in villages to decongest public markets in downtown areas and to prevent the possible spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In an executive order released on Monday, Bichara said that, if it would not possible in every village, LGUs might cluster neighboring barangays (villages) and provide them with a common satellite market.

The LGUs were tasked to establish a transport system and identify the source of basic goods, agricultural products and other commodities for regular delivery to the satellite markets.

Vendors and marketgoers are advised to follow preventive health protocol.

Meanwhile, selling of liquor, wine and other alcoholic beverages will be prohibited in the whole province.
