PNP rolls out free ride service for essential workers in NCR

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) rolled out its free ride service for essential workers in Metro Manila as mass transport services remain suspended with the continuing enforcement of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

Brig. Gen. Joselito Daniel, director of the PNP’s Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG), said the national police will be deploying vehicles to ferry health workers, bank employees, grocery workers, and other frontliners to their respective workplaces.

The free rides run from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Daniel said.

Here are the routes:

Vehicle 1 Route: Crame to Novaliches Bayan and vice versa

• EDSA Cubao

• East Avenue

• Quezon Memorial Circle

• Commonwealth

• SM Fairview

• Novaliches Bayan

Vehicle 2 Route: Crame to Antipolo via Marcos Highway

• EDSA Cubao

• Marikina

• Antipolo

Vehicle 3 Route: Crame to Bacoor, Cavite via Edsa/Parañaque Service Road and vice versa

• EDSA South Bound

• Airport Road

• Zapote

VEHICLE 4 Route: Crame to Valenzuela via EDSA and vice versa

• Crame EDSA North Bound

• Balintawak

• Monumento

• Valenzuela

Daniel has assured frontliners that the PNP’s free ride service will strictly implement health measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Passengers will be checked for symptoms using a thermal scanner before being allowed to board the police vehicles. Onboard the vehicles,  social distancing will be strictly observed, with the vehicles sanitized before and after each trip.
