OVP delivers test kits, PPEs to RITM to fight COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Vice President has delivered test kits –which will be used to test for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) — to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City.
Photos provided by the OVP showed staffers of the office of Vice President Leni Robredo packing the test kits that were delivered Thursday.
The OVP added that it allotted P5.3 million for the test kits, which may be used to conduct a total of 12,750 tests.
These kits, the OVP added, are eyed for the use of the RITM, as well as other hospitals that were identified as subnational laboratories that assist in surveillance and outbreak response: the Lung Center of the Philippines, San Lazaro Hospital, UP-National Institutes of Health, Baguio General Hospital in Baguio City, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City, and the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.
Aside from test kits, the OVP also delivered personal protective equipment (PPE) for use by medical front liners at the RITM.
Article continues after this advertisementPreviously, the OVP said that it will distribute P11.4 million, which were sourced from its office and donations collected, to aid the government’s fight against COVID-19.
To date, the Philippines has 217 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 17 have died while eight have recovered.
