Ligao City to give food aid to jeepney, ‘padyak’ drivers

LIGAO CITY –– The city government of Ligao will be assisting public utility drivers as they are affected by the strict implementation of the enhanced community quarantine due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“More than a thousand displaced drivers of tricycles, public utility jeepneys and padyak (pedicab) will get a pack of food items, and distribution will be scheduled once everything is ready,” Mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua said in a phone interview.

She said they were having problems with the supply of ready-to-eat food as there were not enough canned goods in big stores in the city.

“Called already the attention of the management. So far, they have already made the orders. The question is there is no definite time of delivery dates due to checkpoints,” she said.

She said agriculture supplies should also not be delayed to cater to the needs of farmers.
